Overview

About the award

Founded in 2007 by Farmani Group, the International Design Awards are the design counterpart of the Lucie Awards for Photography. Each year the program invites architects, interior designers, product, graphic and fashion designers from around the world to submit their work to an international jury.

Alongside the professional awards, IDA runs a dedicated track for students and emerging designers, and a People’s Choice competition for non-professionals where the public votes for the winners.

How entries are judged

Entries are reviewed anonymously and in random order by jurors from all five disciplines. Each juror has at least fifteen years of experience and leads or founded their own practice or organization. Projects are scored from 1 to 100.

The jury looks at innovation, aesthetics, function, ergonomics, durability, impact, ecological compatibility, feasibility and emotional appeal. These are used as a guide rather than a strict checklist, since not every criterion fits every project.
