Katerina Semenko is a designer who grew up in a small town in southern Russia and has since lived a nomadic life, moving between Russia, the United States and Canada.
With Valery Graznov and Semenko Design, she created Uslon Life-Saving Swimwear, an ordinary-looking swimsuit with tiny air capsules sewn into its straps, waistline and neckline that keep the wearer afloat like a life vest. The project was named Product Design of the Year at the 2018 International Design Awards. Semenko’s slogan is “save soul and protect body”.
